Britvic and PepsiCo launch assault on UK energy drinks market

Leading soft drinks manufacturer Britvic and PepsiCo UK are announcing the launch of Mountain Dew Energy in the UK. Available from May, the £1bn global brand will arrive in the UK in a 500ml PET citrus flavoured variant, entering the energy category for the first time. Mountain Dew Energy will offer retailers a chance to capitalise on the £567m UK energy drinks market that grew by 7% in 2009.
Balanced flavours

Mountain Dew Energy offers consumers the perfect on-the-go energy boost and will look to appeal to young male adults with its youthful personality and vibrant design. Its citrus flavour and light carbonation will ensure the product is enjoyable to drink, while its mix of stimulant (caffeine) and glucose (sucrose) energy will keep consumers both mentally alert and physically fuelled.

A substantial sampling programme will communicate the launch to consumers and the brand’s availability in independent retailers, symbol groups, forecourts and high street retailers.
