Wimbledon is just over two weeks away and it’s time for crisp whites, strawberries and all those tanned, toned and honed tennis players who are pleasing on the eye.
There have been so many Wimbledon heartthrobs over the years, but its 40 love to American hunk Andre Agassi, who has been voted the most fanciable tennis player of all time, in a Robinsons survey to mark the 75th year of its association with Wimbledon. The survey of over 5,000 starry-eyed people in the UK, found that the charming and charismatic Andre Agassi came out top with over a third of women (37%), while Anna Kournikova was a firm favourite and top choice with 32 per cent of men voting for the leggy beauty.
Of those still active and playing on the circuit, Maria Sharapova is the most fanciable with 58 per cent of the male vote, closely followed by the young Rafael Nadal who is most attractive to over half of women (55%).
And despite retiring in the mid eighties, it seems many Brits still hold a candle for dusky beauty Annabelle Croft, as six out of ten men (58%) agreed that she is the most fanciable British player of all time, while women favour Brit Greg Rusedski who got 40% of the ladies’ votes.
Croft is most popular with the forty and fifty something’s, with over half choosing her as the most fanciable British tennis player ever, while twenty something’s favour Rusedski (34%).
Let’s not forget our national treasure Sue Barker, as almost four in ten men (38%) still think she has what it takes; although she’s most popular with the over 60’s (27%) and the over 70’s (41%).
Wimbledon champion hopeful Andy Murray was ladies’ second choice for most fanciable British player, just pipping Tim Henman to the post with 33% to Tim’s 32% to win the hearts of the ladies. Let’s hope that’s not all Andy Murray will be winning this year – good luck Andy!
